Swastika

Ein sensibler Umgang mit diesem Zeichen ist mir vertrauter. Hier findet man es überall. In Ornamenten, auf Kleidung, auf Fassaden. Dieses hier ist offensichtlich falsch, was ein wenig amüsant ist.

Im Hinduismus sind Swastikas (der Swastika!) seit vielen tausend Jahren üblich. Der nach rechts abgewinkelte, rote Swastika ist ein positives Symbol des Wachstums und Reichtums, das dem Gott Ganesha zugeordnet wird.

Das Gegenstück ist links gewinkelt und blau. Es hat einen anderen Namen und wird mit Tod und Niedergang in Zusammenhang gebracht und der Göttin Kali zugeordnet. Das wird aber nicht immer eingehalten, wie das Foto ja auch zeigt. Anscheinend wird es als ein dynamisches, sich drehendes Zeichen verstanden.

This Symbol is a very delicate one in Germany, because it is linked to the regime of the NSDAP in the time of the second World War. The symbol is banged in Germany and it is hardly visible.

Here in India, being a holy symbol, it is present every day. You can find it everywhere. This particular one was a handpainted symbol for a festival. It is done improperly, but that was slightly amusing. 

There is a red svastika, that is bent right in a red color. It is a positive symbol of growth, associated with Lord Ganesha, the elefant-headed god.

Another sign is bent the other way in blue color, associated with the goddess Kali. Its meaning is the opposite. Downfall and death.
